About setting up Money to track tax information

Money can track your tax-related information to help you plan your tax strategy during the year and prepare your tax return easily and accurately. To make sure your information is tracked correctly, you need to verify that your income and spending categories (A group of income and expense transactions, used to track income and spending in Money reports.) are assigned to the right tax lines. You can use the Tax Line Manager to see if your categories are assigned correctly. You can also look for missing individual transactions and assign them to the correct tax lines.

Note

If you use the Tax Estimator, remember that the Tax Estimator does not include all tax-related transactions for every tax situation. After you set up Money to track your tax information, you can review your tax-related transaction report to check for other transactions that may affect your tax liability.
